Most of us have doubted God, at one time or another, and wavered in our faith. Wavering faith, is like a wave tossed back and forth on the ocean. If we aren’t careful we can drown God out of our life. So, we must learn to stabilize ourselves with the truth found in the Bible.
Our faith affects every aspect of our lives. If we are wavering, the decisions we make will be based upon how we feel. Our feelings, don’t always tell us the truth, they tell us what we want to hear. Therefore, this makes them unreliable and even dangerous. Especially, since some choices may have consequences which will last the rest of our lives. In contrast to our feelings, God tells us the truth 100 percent of the time. Sometimes, the truth can be hard to hear, and many times this is why people turn from faith, to their own feelings instead. While it can be easier to follow our feelings, in the end we won’t experience the goodness of God.
Wavering faith, is loosing our trust in God. When we realize “Who” God is, we are able to confidently trust Him, because we know that He is good, and all His ways are perfect. Why would we want to miss out on His good and perfect ways?
”As for God, His way is perfect: the word of the LORD is tried: He is a shield to all those that trust in Him.” Psalm 18:30
Consider this: God is omniscient which means He knows all; past, present, and future. His Word says, If we trust Him He will make our paths straight. So, why wouldn’t we want to trust Him knowing that He always has our best interest in mind?
“Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to Him, and He will make your paths straight.” Proverbs 3:5-6
Throughout history, God’s promises have proven to be true. We can have a strong secure faith in Him, and know with certainty, that He will never steer us in the wrong direction. To follow His leading we must ground ourselves in His unchanging Word, so that we may know the truth for ourselves. Then, when doubt begins to creep in, and we are tempted to follow our feelings, we will be able to remain stable with an unwavering faith in our Mighty God.
Strong faith is directly linked to the Bible. If we are leaving God’s Word out of our daily lives, our faith will be weak, and we are sure to waiver. When we find ourselves wavering, we need only to return to God. He is faithful and will set us back on solid ground.
“But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and His righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.” Matthew 6:33
