“Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, to which you were also called and have confessed the good confession in the presence of many witnesses” (1 Timothy 6:12).

Do you remember a time when you wanted to be close to God? What was it that began to pull you away from Him? If you’re in a place where you’re no longer thinking about Him in your daily life, I would encourage you to examine your heart. Many times we have secret sin that has taken us to a land far away. Walking away from God happens one small step at a time, and we usually don’t even realize it’s happening.
It’s easy to get lost along the journey of life, if we aren’t staying close to God through prayer and His Word. Step by step we get farther and farther away, until we can’t see Him anymore. Being lost is never a fun place to be. It can be scarey! Maybe, you’re in a far away place right now? Maybe you’re lost and don’t even know it? Turn around, and begin walking back towards God. Leave what’s holding you back, behind. Step by step, you’ll begin to find yourself in a better a place. A secure place. A peaceful place. A forgiven place. A place where you can be healed from the inside, out.
“For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord” (Romans 6:23).
I’ve never known anyone who has regret about turning back to God, but I’ve known plenty of people, myself included, that have deep regret about walking away from Him. Take that first step back towards God today. He hasn’t gone anywhere, and is waiting with open arms. Pray, open your Bible, read His living word to you (might I suggest beginning with the book of John, Luke, and 1,2,3 John). Ask Him to open your eyes to His truth. Turn away from your sin, as you discover it, and pray for forgiveness. Humble yourself before God Almighty. We are as close, or as far away, to God as we choose to be.
“But your iniquities have separated you from your God; And your sins have hidden His face from you, So that He will not hear” (Isaiah 59:2).
It’s our sin that keeps us separated from God. It might be hard to walk away from it, because sin can be pleasurable, but there’s no better feeling than being set free from it! Repentance is what sets us free. The world will tell us that we are free if we’re doing what pleases us, but this is a deceptive lie. We’re only truly free, when our sin has been forgiven, and our relationship with God restored.
“If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness” (1 John 1:9).
There was a time, when I was far away from God. I lived in fear, had anxiety, and made horrible choices with my life. Oh how I wish I had never gone to that cold, dark, far away place. At first, I didn’t feel the cold or sense the darkness, but the longer I stayed, the colder & darker it got. Wake up! It’s not to late! Sin is only pleasurable for a short time, and comes with great regret. Don’t delay, walk back to God you won’t regret it! If people leave you in the process, then maybe it was those people who lead you away from Him? Do what ever it takes to regain your relationship with God. We never know when we’ll step into eternity, and once we do, it’s to late.

You’re so kind with your words, Jerry. It certainly isn’t a comfortable place to be in, when we’ve walked away from God. I never want to go there again! Life is rich, even if I’m poor, because my treasure is found in Christ Jesus. There is nothing more valuable than having peace with God, and the assurance of salvation. I’m so blessed, and so thankful He brought me back into the safety of His loving arms. God bless you today dear brother.🙏🏼

I too am thankful. He is faithful to His word, we can always rely on it, because it reveals Him to us and in us, and it makes us family, and that’s amazing.

Walking away from is one step at a time and is so gradual that we don’t realise how far away we have moved. But God is waiting for us to turn to Him with open arms.
